Mental Health Services

Since 1976, JASA has offered geriatric mental health services in recognition that older adults have unique psychological needs. Today, JASA continues to provide and expand a variety of services to support older adults who have behavioral health issues, helping them to lead healthier and more fulfilled lives.

Program to Encourage Active, Rewarding Lives for Seniors (PEARLS)

In collaboration with Montefiore Home Care, JASA is implementing a new initiative - in targeted areas in the Bronx - to reduce depression symptoms and improve quality of life for older adults. PEARLS is an evidence-based Problem Solving Therapy model utilizing short-term in-home sessions focused on behavioral techniques to empower individuals to take action and make lasting changes. This program is funded by New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Behavioral Health Home and Community-Based Services

JASA believes that keeping older New Yorkers out of hospitals and plugged into a comprehensive safety net of community-based resources and support is the ideal care paradigm. That's why JASA offers Health and Community Based Services (HCBS) to eligible Health and Recovery Plan (HARP) members. JASA is approved to provide psychosocial rehabilitation, habitation, peer support, and family support and training, all with the goal of keeping individuals engaged and supported on their road to recover.

Services are provided at the Bronx Friendship House and Brooklyn Friendship House. For further information or to make a referral, please call 212.273.5272.
