JASA Mental Health Services for Older Adults

Since 1976, JASA has supported the unique mental health needs of older adults. We offer accessible, compassionate services to help seniors lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.



Article 31 Outpatient Mental Health Clinic 

We provide mental health services to individuals throughout New York State

Services Offered:

  • Individual & group therapy
  • Medication management
  • Telehealth & home visits (as needed)
  • Help accessing social services

Affordable Care: No one is turned away for inability to pay. Sliding scale fees available.


Living in Place Program

Helping adults 55+ with serious mental illness (SMI) live safely in their homes.

What We Do:

  • Address health, housing, and social needs
  • Coordinate home safety & medical equipment
  • Provide ongoing, person-centered care

Cost: Free — no insurance required

Eligibility:

  • Bronx resident
  • Age 55+
  • Diagnosis of SMI (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder)
  • Stable and receiving psychiatric care
  • Living in permanent or supportive housing

Not Eligible If:

  • Residing in a nursing home, shelter, or transitional housing
  • Recently incarcerated or hospitalized frequently
  • Enrolled in ACT, FACT, or IMT programs

Mental Health Services at Older Adult Centers

On-site mental health professionals are available at Bronx older adult centers to provide:

  • Information & support
  • Therapy sessions
  • Referrals to community services

Older Adult Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team

Intensive, in-home mental health support for older adults who need more than traditional services.

Who We Serve:
Older adults with complex mental health needs who may experience:

  • Frequent hospitalizations or ER visits
  • Long-term, severe mental illness
  • Disconnection from community services
  • Housing insecurity or legal involvement

What ACT Provides:

  • In-home psychiatric and medical care
  • Medication & substance use support
  • Mental health counseling
  • Case management & housing assistance
  • Peer, family, and community support

ACT = A holistic, team-based approach to helping clients regain stability and independence in the community.
