JASAChat connects volunteers (18+) with older adults for a weekly phone or video chat to reduce social isolation and foster meaningful friendships. The program is fully virtual and designed to be flexible with your schedule. Training and support are provided to guide you throughout your volunteer experience.
By volunteering a small portion of your time each week, you can make a significant difference in the lives of older New Yorkers. The initial commitment to the program is a flexible weekly phone call or video chat for 3 months.

JASAChat MACS (Memory and Care Support)
The JASAChat MACS initiative is a specialized group of volunteers dedicated to providing support and companionship to caregivers and their family members experiencing cognitive decline. MACS volunteers engage in weekly phone calls with both caregivers and care receivers, offering friendly conversation, companionship, and emotional support.
Volunteers receive specialized training on how to best connect with and support this population, along with ongoing support and guidance from JASA staff. Our program aims to provide not only social connection and companionship but also emotional support to those who may be feeling overwhelmed or isolated and need a listening ear.
