New Challenges Facing Frontline Workers: Effective Service Delivery to Older Persons During the Pandemic

Registration CLOSED

Monday, June 15, 2020 - World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

While many essential workers continue to conduct face to face visits with clients, the majority of frontline social service and legal staff are now connecting remotely.  Telephonic and tech-supported service delivery presents new challenges and opportunities. In this interactive workshop for direct services staff, the presenters will address obstacles and interventions for establishing trust, meaningful interactions and effective interventions to stop abuse.  The session will also explore the impact of shared trauma, related to fears of contagion and loss of loved ones. Coping strategies for staff will be provided to promote self-care skills in managing personal and work-related responsibilities.

Presenters:

Randi Anderson, JD, DSW (abd’20), LCSW-R, Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging, Hunter College School of Social Work
