Serving LGBTQ Older Adults
in a "Post-Covid" Environment
Thursday, March 23, 2023
10:00am - 12:00pm
Registration is now closed.
Description:
The past few years have seen enormous changes due to the pandemic, rising crime rates in some areas, and increased hostility toward minority groups. These dynamics have impacted everyone, of course, but there is a unique way in which they have impacted the LGBTQ community and older adults, and that has had an effect on how they interact with services. This workshop will focus on the abuse of elderly LGBTQ individuals, including fraud, scams, and identity theft in our current environment with an emphasis on the situation in the New York metro area. We will discuss outreach, engagement, and how to provide culturally competent services during our current time of transition.
