In Memoriam: Ellen Kolodney

Ellen Kolodney

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear colleague, Ellen Kolodney. Ellen served as the Elder Abuse Coordinator at the Bronx District Attorney’s office with unwavering dedication from 2000 until her untimely death on June 2, 2025.

Ellen was a powerful voice for elder justice. Her colleagues and the community knew her as a caring, compassionate, creative, enthusiastic, kind, thoughtful, sassy, and deeply committed advocate. Over her remarkable career, Ellen touched countless lives. She was also an animal lover and always spoke up for those without a voice.

Her impact extended beyond the office, as she was featured in news articles and participated in hundreds of community events. She was an active participant in the Bronx Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team meetings.

In these roles, Ellen connected directly with community members, offering invaluable advice about elder abuse and the crucial services provided by the Bronx District Attorney's office and other organizations. Ellen was all about advocacy, collaboration, and partnership.

Ellen will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and the many clients she served with such passion, poise, and grace.

In recognition of her extraordinary contributions and her enduring legacy, we are honored to dedicate this year’s conference to Ellen’s memory. May she rest in eternal peace.
